Friends Forever

At sometime very early in my life when i could barely comprehend my existence and the burden i was to humanity in general i became the 'younger brother' of a scrawny, stubborn, authoratative, ass-kicking girl who probably felt i was the perfect 'toy' her mom had given her. Twenty-three years later the only thing that has changed is that she is no longer a little girl but a married woman who can still kick-ass.......this poem was written when we both were at crossroads in our lives and yet managed to have all the fun and frolick in one wet and cloudy week in Chennai.....

FRIENDS FOR EVER

When we were young
And the world was our playground
In the not so distant past
It was only by love that we were bound
The days were spent
Among the trees near the lake
The beauty of the evening breeze
Mingling with the laughter we used to make
The nights were dreams spent on rooftops
Counting the stars till we fell asleep
We shared our warmth with the moonlight
In those nights cold, dark and deep
And now as childhood ends
And I step into a harsh new world
I need your love more than ever
And your comforting hand to hold
